Ron is an Albany, N.Y. native. He is a graduate of American University in Washington D.C. and earned his J.D. in 1975 from John Marshall Law School, Chicago, IL.
After practicing law in New York State for several years Ron moved to Florida and became a member of the Florida Bar in 1979.
Ron has been with Independence Title since 1982 and is its President and majority owner. Ron co-owns Platt & Surber, P.A. with Attorney Todd E. Surber. Ron has over thirty years of experience in real estate and title insurance law. He is a member of the Attorney’s Title Insurance Fund President’s Circle and is an active member in the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce and an active participant in the Delray Beach community.

Todd is a native of Columbus, Ohio and moved to South Florida in 1978. He graduated from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA in 1994 and received his J.D. - cum laude from St. Thomas Law School in 1998. Todd was admitted to the Florida Bar and joined the staff of Independence Title that same year. With over 12 years experience in real estate law Todd is a President’s Circle Member of Attorney’s Title Insurance Fund and participates in the Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar, the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Palm Beach Real Estate Council. Todd co-owns Platt & Surber, P.A. with Ron Platt and is part owner of Independence Title.
